“The KODAK NUVUE Display AM550L is a 2.2-inch diagonal (5.5 cm), full-color active matrix OLED display. The AM550L is ideal for bright, clear, highly responsive displays that perform well in variable light conditions.” “Organic light emitting diode (OLED) technology uses substances that emit red, green, blue or white light. Without any other source of illumination, OLED materials present bright, clear video and images that are easy to see at almost any angle. OLED displays stack up several thin layers of materials. They operate on the attraction between positively and negatively charged particles. When voltage is applied, one layer becomes negatively charged relative to another transparent layer. As energy passes from the negatively charged (cathode) layer to the other (anode) layer, it stimulates organic material between the two, which emits light visible through an outermost layer of glass.”

“OLEDs are semiconductors made of layers of organic material. They create light in much the same way as a traditional LED does: Electrons and holes meet and cancel each other out, releasing photons. Manufacturers make the screens by spraying organic films onto a substrate, typically glass or plastic, printing out patterns the way ink dots are printed on paper.”

"Usually, the total thickness of the organic materials in OLED structure is about 100 nm and the ITO thickness is determined by considering good electrical conductance and high transparence." Jeong and Takezoe (2012)
